Risk Perception and Risk Communication in Drug Safety
Lee Jin-Ho

Abstract
Increasing emphasis has been placed on the assessment and management of risks of harm from prescribed pharmaceutical products. However, the meaning of risk/benefit information to prescribers and patients and its usefulness to them are less often addressed. There is evidence that many critical factors in perception process affects the utility of the information. There are also important factors in communication and presentation that affect the effectiveness of the communications in achieving their aims. This article explores some of these perceptual and practical issues to improve drug safety by building good risk communication.
